BC Soapstone
Soapstone is a soft, metamorphic rock composed primarily of talc, giving it a smooth, soapy feel and making it easy to carve and shape. The material we are selling comes from the Coquihalla Serpentine Belt, making it a high-serpentine, talc-rich soapstone, with hardness typically ranging from 2.5 to 3.5 on the Mohs scale, and veining or high-serpentine zones reaching up to about 4.
No mineralogy has been done on these stones to determine talc percentages or fibrous minerals.
